Dead 5870

Thread Starter
So I've a dead 5870 that newegg won't give me a gift card for recycling. Any ideas on what to do with it?
Found a year old post on here about baking, is that a viable option?
Card died when i tried to install a Zalman ZF3000-A, probably static damage somehow, even though i was grounded. Core still heats up and fans turn when i plug it in, but it screws up my CMOS.

tl;dr
Dead 5870 out of warranty, bake or break?

I wouldn't imagine baking the card would fix any problems you might have gotten from a replacement cooler. I say break it or freebie it.

Bake it, if no work then blend it.

Probably installed it incorrectly and broke some of the circuitry.
Baking is the lazy man's way of potentially fixing the card.

Personally I would use a heatgun in select areas of the card (it's safer).

I'm guessing the processor, any other areas of importance I should take note to blast with my phaser?
