Windows XP or Win 7 with 4 GB RAM?

Thread Starter
Hey ,
Making my new PC , got a 4GB DDR3 G.Skill RIPJAWS RAM , now should i go in for Win XP , or Win 7 , ???
Win XP , runs cream at 2GB , and i guess at 4GB it should fly , meaning work very good , but will i get the complete 4GB support , if not how much RAM will it support?

Win 7 , have not tried it till date , will this RAM , help Win 7 run very very smoothly , or i need more ? Also , play lots of big games , so will it be ok for them or no?

Thanks for any help!

I wasn't aware your kind still existed.

Yes, get Windows 7 even if only for the proper drivers...

Don't get an OEM disc however if you plan on upgrading to something else at some point in time(which you probably will).

Just be sure to trim all the fat off Windows 7 and it'll run much better. It takes a little extra time but it definitely pays off. Something like RT7 Lite would work wonders.

On my old Lenovo 2ghz dual-core with 2gb of ram (256mb Vram) Windows 7 runs noticeable faster than XP.

Wrong question. This is not about XP vs 7 but rather 32 bit vs 64 bit. If you are currently using XP 64 bit then you are good to go.

Either way you should grab Windows 7 64 bit to realize full 4GB RAM.
