Thread Starter
Hey guys I just picked up a 2600k and tryed to push it to 5ghz @1.45v crashed dureing a prime95 test @ 27 min @ 87 temp. Now the system won't stay on, somtime it will run all night sometimes won't boot at all. So I was just wondering if you guys think it's the mobo or the 2600k.

Mobo: p67 sabortooth
Ram: 12gigz vengeance tri chan
Videocard: x2 570 gtx hd
Psu: Ax 1200 watt
Ssd: ocz vertex 3 (120)
HD: 2tb wd

And sorry for the grammar and spelling I'm doing this on my phone.

1.45v shouldnt burn it, but (IMO) its pretty high. Try dropping to, say, 4.8ghz @ 1.4v, see if that works. You should be able to get at least 4.5ghz on 1.35v.

Try to lower clocks and voltage. Better yet run it at stock and stability test it. If its fine. Aim for a lower overclock.
Also you cant run tri channel on p67.

This, Try resetting your cmos if you haven't already. If that dosn't work then try troubleshooting, start with your ram and then listen to the beepcodes that will tell you if its ram or mobo

87 degrees is pushing it. You should have used a better cooler when tempting this. What I would do is reset it back to factory settings and wait out to see if the cpu is partially fried.

Intel doesn't cover overclocking failures in their warranty.

Try another psu on your system. Or also you can try to run system with the least number of parts. One stick ram, one vid card and then see how it oes.
