Was that footage the console version? It looks like it's running at 60 fps, and it looks great too

It is, IGN has very bad biased reviews.

From what I've heard, it is using console textures on the PC. Though apparently Carmack says high res ones will be coming.

That doesn't answer why I don't "see" it, and yes I've seen HD PC footage. Maybe I just don't have an eye for graphics, but this doesn't seem to be revolutionary.

It is console, see the press 'a' stuff, and the guitar mini game thingy.

Just like my sig says! Nobody can match idsoftware when it comes to graphics Don't get fooled by system requirements. Other devs are just lazy enough to optimize for the PC. People just don't know how powerful a 8800 is.
i was going to say this before but didn't want to be debbie downer.
All games get away with the same cheap crap they have been doing for years, this goes ESPECIALLY for character models in game.
Make a 10 million poly character, bake it to a 10k NORMAL and put it on.
Don't tell me graphics don't make games better cause that is factually false as well, a higher poly character has much better animation, how light reflects off them and they will look much better.

Maybe this is a specific issue but it's pretty damn bad

and apparently these are the graphic settings

Apparently those are the graphics options. Now someone on reddit somehow has this game, so maybe the leak version or preload is different.

A review is an opinion. Thought everyone knew that.

Lol 10 million poly model. I can assure you that rigging for that will be a frustrating mess that not even professionals will want to do by hand. They'd probably use features like envelope for most of it and the rigging will not be great in the end. Not to mention that's like 4-5x the amount of polys in a highly detailed frame of a game like Crysis or Crysis 2. Crazy stuff man. A 10k poly character model could be great, besides, a lot of animation isn't dependent on the model itself. Even low poly models can have great animations. Also, normals and displacement maps also interact with light, normal maps simply don't have true volume or shape.

From what i have seen in Steam forums most of the ATi users have graphics and performance issues and Nvidia users have 0 problems. You need to w8 for a driver as usual. That is normal right?

It actually seems to be a game to game sort of issue and many times both sides will have issues, not just one.

People having hardware issues with new PC games is nothing new. It's happened since forever.
