@OP

Did you check the asus rma status from their website? See if they tried to repaired or not. RMA doesn't mean that they're going to give you different card.

I don't think that's a upgrade. Your ref 6950 2gb should unlock to 6970.

lawl, no they didn't. So then what your saying is they stop making gtx 580s and 570s then (GF110)? They use the same core. If that was case newegg wouldn't still be selling them still.

At business stand point, you have to certain amount of quantity replacement products set aside. ASUS will either fix his problem or send him a replacement.

Stop spreading false info.

How ignorant, thats wrong.
Only the best GF110 cores that were able to run at a lower voltage were handpicked for the GTX 590 and thus there was only a very limited number to begin with.

Upon release, nVidia stated they've been cherrypicking GF110's pretty much since the release of the GTX 580 in order to have a reasonable quantity at launch date. That should tell you how limited the yield of the better-performing GF110's is.

Some guy over at eVGA forums that is supposedly affiliated with nVidia has stated that the last batch of these would start production; and that was 4 months ago.
So according to this, production of the card has indeed stopped long time ago.

That dude might be fake, and even if he is, it's an undeniable fact that the yield of these handpicked chips is very low and thus common sense should tell you how limited the 590 is especially when realizing that one card actually needs TWO of these super-chips.

They ARE running out of stock, I wouldnt be surprised if theres only one GTX 590 amongst hundreds GTX 580's that are being produced every day/week or whatever.

This card is not comparable to previous dual-GPU products as the older generation chips produced a reasonable amount of heat / power consumption which obviously can't be said for Fermi, so they had to take the very best chips, picking even more carefully than before or the competition hence why theres A LOT more HD 6990's around.

Actually, I said that and...They did.

The current re-listing of stock was/is RMA stock that they're allowed to sell after a certain date.

The 590 was a 1 run shot...2 different production lines (thus the V1/V2)...Both are the EXACT SAME...and when they were done, they were done.

After a certain amount of time you're allowed to sell off excess RMA stock...I point you to Alienware "refurbs" or extreme discounts...I wonder where those products came from!?!?

That's what's happening...

If you RMA the card, they will be able to get you a replacement but, ASUS has been terrible lately in the CS dept. so, god only knows what they'll actually tell you.

For the period of your warranty, they're bound to replace your card if it dies...So, go after them imho.
