[TPU]AMD Piledriver to Boost Performance by 10%, Feature New Instruction Set - Page 3

Ivybridge will probably only be a 10% increase (clock for clock) over Sandybridge anyway so....

/inb4 someone says IB will do 6Ghz stable or something ridiculous like that.

Well if the Voltage needed is low enough for IB and since it is a die shrink to 22nm we could see 5.5ghz on IB easily.

Also, 10% increase will be a pretty nice boost, better then just a MHZ boost. Both PD and IB will be interesting products next year.

10% faster than bulldozer while we don't even know how fast bulldozer is? k, thanks for sharing.
from what i gathered it's 10% extra performance per core, 1 pile driver core is 10% faster than a bulldozer core, the bulldozer next gen will have 8 cores gaining around 10% more performance per core over the previous 8 core processors. article is very vague.

the date to watch out for is October 12, 6 PM Central European time. If you are based in the UK or Portugal the announcement comes at 5.00 PM.

The chaps on the US east coast will be able to read the first reviews at noon, while PST, California and the pacific side of United States will be able to see it first thing in the morning at 9 AM their time.

LOL

Wow...Bulldozer isn't even released yet and we have no clue of its performance and people are already starting argue how Piledriver will perform against Intel.

Just...wow...

These are new instructions, like AVX for Intel.

Sure, there's a 10% performance gain if a developer takes advantage of these extensions, but these party specific extensions usually don't end up giving much if any real world performance increases. Straight x86 performance is still what matters.
