Samsung Galaxy S2 battery life

Thread Starter
Hey all. I've bought a Galaxy S2 2 days ago and I noticed that my battery gets drained pretty fast. Faster than my previous iPhone. The screen brightness level is at default, I turn off wifi when I don't need it. Bluetooth was off all the time. Does anyone have any more tips for making my battery last longer? I don't want to dim my screen, I wouldn't feel comfortable with it then. There is an app for ~2$ on the Android Market that allows you to underclock/undervolt your cpu. Has anyone had any experience with it and did it cause significant performance loss?

I have the previous version. The new one is 4g. What options are available there to reign that in ?

I have the GT-I9100. Which options do you mean? The cpu ones?
The phone underclocks quite well by default. If you use an app like Android System Info, you'd find the CPU spends very little time near 1200MHz.

Easy way is to turn off mobile data when you don't need it. It helped my TW GS2 get about 1.5 days out of it. Its battery is small, and there is not much to get around that... (other than getting an Atrix sized battery which I also have ).

I actually bought the phone and was not too impressed with the battery life myself... As my original iPad 1 has much better battery life.

One thing I am doing now, is disabling the animated wallpapers, no WIFI, no GPS, and no BT...
So far the battery is impressive here at work... Going 5 hours long and still full...
With a few widgets running...

I get about two days off it with about an hour of internet and an hour of music each day..
I have it set to 15s before the screen shuts off, no menu/back button vibrations, GPS off, Bluetooth off, brightness minimal (i can still see it in sunlight) i have task manager on shortcut (swiping the screen upwards) to clear my processes/RAM every time I exit an application, they were my only setting changes, really.

Look at the battery info bar widget, it makes me concious of my usage

No gpu? How did you manage that?

Also, is there a widget to help me turn off mobile data more easily than through settings?

Where do you get the battery info bar widget? I only see a Program Monitor widget...

hint: you can hold down the home button to get directly to the task manager...

Most smart phones battery life is total crap. Even on my Captivate (Galaxy S), the MOST I've ever gotten out of it, with actually using it, was 19 hours. And that was no more than 4 hours of actual use (web surfing, playing games, listening to music, etc.).

But like McMogg said, disable things that you absolutely don't need. The vibrate and tactile feedback kill it. Apps that increase the display's brightness kill it. Whenever I look at my power usage, it ALWAYS uses 50%+ just for the screen.
