Best Way to Backup my HDD on Vista?

Thread Starter
I just realized that I have had my computer for almost 2 years and have never backed up my hard drive and I have this weird feeling its going croak on me so I'm wondering what the best backup utility is for me to use. I'm going to need something that allows a full backup of everything on my system so that I can view all the files on my external hard drive (in other words I don't want the files to be compressed, I just want my disk mirrored on my external).

I have no experience in backing things up so not sure if it would be best to use a utility such as paragon, or copy/past the files

edit: oops wrong section, hopefully a mod can delete this

Windows Vista has a built in backup solution, which can be set as a scheduled task. I'm sure if it come to it your would be able to restore the files singly.
