Worth getting into WoW now? - Page 3

I played wow on and off over the years and in my opinion its not worth it to get into right now. I quit once i had a few level 85 toons, cata just didn't have much to offer when I quit.

Rift is a good option its still rather new and there is a lot to do. But I gave up on that one too cause I'm just not into mmo's right now.

Can't wait for starwars though.

I've played WoW since release. I've taken a few months off here and there, mainly because of changes incorporated during expansions that left me feeling like I had wasted the past year of my life senselessly grinding. Ultimately, I always end up coming back. I have close friends that I've played with since release. Sometimes I raid, sometimes I just do 5 mans, sometimes it's just pvp for months when I have little free time.

I'd like to point out that with the release of Cataclysm, it's easier for anyone to come into the game now and do just as well as the veteran WoW players. Leveling to 85 can be done within a month, and that's not even going overboard with your gaming time. Once you hit 85, you can almost immediately get into heroics and such (assuming your gear is fair), and move into raiding within a few weeks of hitting 85. PVP can be started at any time, and isn't hard to gear up for. You can get honor points pretty easily in battlegrounds, and if you can find a buddy to do arenas with, conquest points come pretty easily as well (assuming you don't suck).

Bottom line, I wouldn't be concerned of whether or not you'll enjoy the gameplay. The real question is, how long would you be playing for. If you are waiting for another title releasing before christmas, then you should probably wait it out. If you plan on playing for 6 months or more, than $20 initially (wow battlechest), $60 for the last 2 expansion (all from amazon), and $15ish a month after the first month, at 6 months you will have spent $155 total (roughly), which is about $25 a month for your entertainment. Of course it gets cheaper after 6 months, but I think that WoW is well worth that money in the long run. How much do you spend for entertainment per month? Just a few things to consider.

Worth getting into WoW now? Try the free to play first 20 levels option, and see if you like the new world. I played from early days (my server was the last in the world to open AQ), now it just feels so... empty and pointless. What Cata added was pretty much a flash in the pan, a lot of people (like me) came back to experience it, and saw that while things were prettier, the game hadn't actually changed much.
Yeah, sure, my tankadin build actually worked, but it worked in WoTLK, unlike in vanilla where it was a nightmare. (Yes, I did do some tanking in vanilla raids as a paladin).

Getting into it now would be a waste of time. Honestly, go sign up for a new MMO, and join in early. WoW has just dissolved into cliques now, and you won't be in any of them.

I had been playing since a few months after launch but I finally gave up on the game about 4-5 months ago and have not missed it one bit. Blizzard seems to have given up on the game, and the community is far from what it used to be. Your time and money can be better spent doing something else.

Nope. I was just reminiscing yesterday about all of the things I loved about the time I spent playing wow. Then I realized every single thing that I loved has been murdered and normalized. For example, disarm used to be fun until everyone had it, now, what's the point?

Played since launch. Took 1 or 2 ~8 month breaks. A few months I quit completely.... One of the best decisions of my life. A game shouldn't be your job, which it will be if you want to take it seriously at all.

I would say.... No.

They have a new patch coming up, and that should be interesting, but I really don't think it's worth getting into now. The heyday of WoW is long since past... and that's coming from a pretty avid WoW fan frown.gif

I started wow 1 week before cataclysm and I have to say I'd repay anyday.
I enjoy raiding a lot, and new stuff is about to go out so yeah, sign up.

Whoever said cataclysm is easy I'd like to see you on Heroic Rag wink.gif

P.S. Whoever said WoW is a waste of money couldn't be more wrong. That game saved me so much money by staying at home and not going out and living my life(drinking, partying, buying things I don't need)....seriously...and I am okay with that.

i know right, nothing like a good raid, getting 2, count em 2, tier 9 pieces. oh wait, there are a hundred pink reasons at every bar across america that would be better then that

I played it for the first time in January 2011, played for maybe 2-3months then got tired of it (took me about 2 weeks to get to level 85, when I stopped playing I had most the heirloom whatever gear and was like top 10 hunter on the server at the time i think gear wise). The arena PVP is flavor of the week stuff, when they fix something with one class, something else becomes over powered and over used. You only really run into certain "top tier" comp classes in arena also which is kind of boring. The random battlegrounds pvp is quite fun though, never tried ranked BG's.

The pve is okay, it's just really hard to get 10-25 steady people wanting to run raids every week and actually progress/get stuff done. If you go with a public random group into raids, normally turns into a waste of time unless you get lucky and they actually know the mechanics. Idk, I played for those 2-3 months and found mechanics to be pretty cookie cutter and obvious, yet people who had played for years would mess up over and over, but always brag how they've played for years lol. They also have a habit of just wanting to farm certain bosses and not run all the way through, which is annoying.

Idk, the community isn't that great and have this elitist attitude, which is sort of funny when half can't even play their toons and in PVP overly rely on their one shot macros and addons. The game is mediocre IMO, it has its problems like pretty much every mmorpg game...it just comes down to which MMORPG you can tolerate the most. In this case, I couldn't tolerate WoW or its community.
