Well there is no other Official way to try the game. Its either that or Private servers.

dont get into wow now. its impossible to play catchup with the way the guild system is now (no one leaves their guilds anymore and very difficult to get into a guild that can do anything unless you are raid geared which you cant be without the guild in the first place), the game is being dumbed down, the development makes no sense, pvp balance is and always will be pathetic.

blizz had it right with wrath of the lich king albeit maybe to easy but the cataclysm way is a mess and its as if the developers are forcing more stuff without any decent thought into it.

WoW is better than it's ever been and is still easily one of the best MMOs around, especially for endgame content. Of course, people are saying Cataclysm is the "worst" xpac and it's "dumbing down" the game, but people have said that about every single xpac so far. When the new xpac comes out, people will be talking about the glory days of Cataclysm. Are people quitting now? Yeah, and people were quitting in BC and WotLK too. Blizzard still constantly updates the game with improved/new content, and it's got a great population going for it. As for the community being "immature".. it's a video game community, deal with it. Join a medium pop server and you'll likely find intelligent and mature players.

Take this from someone who quit recently after playing for years. Why did I leave? Got bored. But I would get bored after that many years of any game, regardless of how much they add.

Not going to lie, I came back to WoW about a month ago. I quit after we downed ICC25 heroic LK. I came back expecting it to be an amazing new challenge, with all new stuff and... To be honest, now I spend most of my time goofing around with TS stuff. All the "new" mechanics are just borrowed from previous encounters, nothing really new. The paladin T13 does give me a slight woody because I think it looks epic but, overall I should of left the game behind. After I got my shaman and pally from 80 to 85, I got bored verrry quickly. Im on maybe an hour a day now, just enough to do a daily or two and a quick dungeon.
