is this the future for PC gaming? - Page 2

um, you do have to consider that we, the PC market, is really a niche market. Where do you think they get the lion's share of money from? the consoles, of course. how else do they get paid?

It is unavoidable since the consoles were meant to be idiot-proof, while the PCs, while somewhat easy to set up to us, still has that wall of "Forbidden Knowledge of Computer technology" to the computer-phobic.

Like guys, it always has costed more money to get a decent pc than a console, though the cheaper prices of games through steam sales make up for that.

guys, this is a general LOOK at the current market

i'd rather not single out games.

am i so far off from what everyone is feeling?

you don't *sigh* when you turn these on and they don't work, or *sigh* when reviewers tell you to stay away?

What game is unsatisfactory? All of the games that I own, that you've listed and I've commented on, have been really good games. Games nowadays are gonna have problems. Its just a fact of life now, especially with developers having the limited amount of time they have to work on their games since the consumers keep screaming "NOW NOW NOW".

I dont listen to the reviewers because most of them do not share the same interests as me.

Well, companies have to make decision.... launch now with some bugs or launch later bugfree. If you want extremely complex software to launch bug free, you should expect to wait 6-12 additional months for AAA games while paying $5-15 more. This is reality.

It is not irresponsiblity but a cost-benefit decision.
Once again...

two people have already brought up my inclusion of BF3

i would love to get into the demo vs. beta debate, but i would ask you guys to instead see my argument that BETA is DEMO in current gaming. Do you honestly believe that the devs release an open beta to showcase, what they perceive as, unoptimized builds? i'm really not complaining about bf3 in particular, i love the game, i've included it as an example of the *sigh*

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The PC gaming community is just filled with haters. All they do is hate on games when they're released. They did it to BC2, Crysis, and now Rage. I'm pretty sure it happened to BF2 also.

the games you counted were all fps games. frp,rpg even strategies that are quite new are great fun to play (witcher2, the coming skyrim WILL be awesome, starcraft2, probably some others but these are the ones i like atm)

but regarding fps games ... i dont really like them but last week i played something at a friends house ... i believe it was called hard reset or something and it seemed ok to me

"unsatisfactory" would be crashing to desktop, menu's that max out our cpu/gpu while the game runs at maxfps, falling to the bottom of maps, stuck in walls, BUGS. there was a time that games ran w/o a hitch...lol there was even a time where glitches were an intentional part of the game, used only because it was so stable *METAL GEAR 2: Sons of Liberty on the PS2* there has been an unmistakable trend towards releasing unfinished releases and blaming it on release dates...BS. Especially when some dev's DELAY their game and still have yucky launches.
