The problem is that people dont understand that these games are too expensive to develop, have to run on millions of different configurations of PCs, and the developers will not make much money anymore releasing a AAA title on the PC.

All of the problems Rage has, have been discussed by Carmack in the Quakecon keynote. Its the consumers fault for not researching their purchases. There are no gamebreaking bugs so far in Rage.

Games are developed for consoles and made to work on PC. I'm no console hater - I love my PS3. But damn, I miss games like HL2 and FarCry and Crysis.

*edit* modded Crysis is still the best looking PC game on the market. A game from 2007. that should say it all, really.
agreed

sorry for my trolling, i just came from a ignorant *zomfg i thought bf3 was going to be awesome but it looks so ****ty on my 3 year old laptop* thread

Dead Island is an alright game, played for 20minutes but couldn't get into it ;\\ I'm waiting for Rage to come out, I've seen the game plays, and it looks really good. maybe you're expecting too much out of the devs, you need to remember that they need to release the games on time in order to compete, and some times, problems do exist. Maybe try console gaming FLAME 0N!

The future of PC gaming is F2P games like Firefall, Team Fortress 2, Black Light Retribution and League of Legends.

with the complexity and vastness of games now adays, there are sure to be glitches. hell there were glitches in 16 bit snes games. To expect a game to comeout flawless in unrealistic. So instead of crying about how poor the games are, just use some common sense, dont run to gamestop at 12:01am to get your copy, and wait for patches. oh no bf3 beta doesnt utilize my 2nd GPU, time to smash everything and blog about it!. Oh wait, game is still playable, looks awesome, and is tons of fun. See what i did there?

I feel ya... Used to be that any title from ID was killer, and there were so many good shooters out Unreal, Quake, Doom, heck, even Turock and Duke. I think maybe the problem is that the technology has actually come too far too fast, that devs don't even have the opportunity to appreciate the tools they have to work with.
Sort of the same thing in the music biz... tech has progressed so fast, you don't even have to have fundemental music skills to write a song, anymore. Of course, the quality of the music reflects the lacking of fundemental skills....
Hopefully, in time, devs will recall how much fun it was being able to be able to play against your friends on a LOCAL server, and how much fun it is simply "killing" others, online.

+1 I wish people would read news posts on the main page DICE's gm told us the beta is 1 month old code and our purpose is to stress the servers! The extra feedback we may give is secondary at this stage as most bugs will have been squashed in closed beta. They are now ironing out the stragglers, Im sry if thats so hard to understand the ignorance makes me ashamed to be a member of ocn at times.

Everyone complains about new releases. Its how it goes. And Rage is just as good of a game for its time as Doom 3 was for its time. And we do have tons of great shooters, you just need to look around and stop trusting other people's opinions about games. Do the research into what you're buying and you'll come out satisified.

I basically agree with the OP. All I have to rant about is how my favorite realistic fps, Red Orchestra, shifted towards COD gameplay. In RO, you needed to control the weapon recoil, in RO2, you don't. ad;lksa;fjad;lkfjasd;lfkjsad;lfknamsd;fmsadknl
