Spyder3Pro 4.0 vs i1Display Pro

Thread Starter
So I am going to be getting 3 U2312HM (hopefully) and want to calibrate them using some good software, the Spyder costs $190, and the i1Display costs $250. I was wondering if anyone had experience with either of them, and would they recommend them or not.

Also if there are any suggestions you have for monitor calibration, needs to have multiple monitor calibration ability.

Or there is the i1Display 2, which I havent looked at, and it only costs about $105.

I have a Spyder3Pro and its amazing! I originally purchased it for when I had 3 monitors in surround as I was getting tired of them looking different from each other - it has a good range of controls and adjustments and is super easy to use. I don't have i1Display, so I cannot comment how it compares, but I always recommend the Spyder3Pro to everyone I know!

For standard gamut screens, the DTP 94 is the best out there for a reasonable price.

For LED and wide gamut screens the Spyder 3 and I1 Display 3 are your best choice.

The I1D2 that comes in retail packages has a lot of variation unit-to-unit so I would avoid it for now.

so then for the U2312HM the best option would be the i1 or the Spyder. I will probably go for the i1.

can you install these in many other computers or just a one computers but many monitors?

i was thinking of getting one but rent out to other photographers coz their prices seem a little outrageous.

Edit: After looking into it, I think you can use it on any number of computers. At least with the Spyder, a rep said they are ok with that because it exposes the product to more people, which could lead to more sales.

Say, can any one of these tools also be used to calibrate a digital projector? I would want to use it on my Epson projector and also on my LED backlit SA950 monitor and if one device could do both reasonably well that'd be great.

*edit*
the Spyder3 Elite seems to be capable of calibrating projectors and monitors plus it's not overly expensive at 140€ over on amazon. If I don't find other alternatives I'll probably order that one this evening.

Indeed it does. I need to do some more research on these I think. If what they state here is true, then I'd rather shell out the extra € to get the i1display pro because I see little point in using a calibration device that wasn't calibrated at the factory to begin with

From what I have read, the i1 Display Pro is one of the best calibrators on the market.
