HAHAHA WHAT!?!!?

The 1st one makes sense - its based on previous years items. If PC had 1 billion computers world wide (actually more), then 40 million sales in 1 year would be a 4% increase. However, if apple has, lets say, 100 million mac laptops/desktops, and they sell 25 million, they would have a 25% increase.

They would still be selling a fair bit less, but the "growth" would be massive.

As for the 2nd slide....
What the hell...

Do we sue them now, or what?

Turn off 3G and Data and don't play any games.

In other words use it only as a phone, not a handheld computer.

They already have.

Tim Cook said, and I quote.

The Mac outsells the PC, and every single year for 5 years, the Mac has outgrown the PC market.

The Mac is the #1 Desktop & Notebook.

Now, if we use just some simple logic, and look up Operating System market share, windows has 88% market share, while Mac has 6%.

So, how can he remotely claim this and pass it on as facts? 0:09:20 of the keynote.
They are skewing the facts. They are comparing "Macs" to each individual model of PC.

In other words - all of Macs sales, vs the sales of specifically Dell Inspiron 620's, then vs Inspiron 560, and so on, taking each model individually instead of collectively.

It's dirty, manipulative, and pathetic.

Collectively there are over 1 Billion PCs in use worldwide, and expected to reach 2 Billion by 2014. A few million Macs is nothing in comparison.

No that was just apple's statement, they did actually overheat. There was a whole fiasco about it. And about the heat making the white version turn pink too.

I'm pretty sure if I left my Droid X in the car it would over heat too. Hell it already gets very warm when I use it at all

I know, and that's my point. People buy into it though, it's sad.

Apple tried opening up their OS with OS7 to gain market share after they fired Steve Jobs in the 1990s. That is why there were a few Mac clones. That did not help gain market share at all and cannibalized their hardware sales. That is why Apple only makes a closed OS tied to hardware now once Steve Jobs came back.
