Apple is all about "dumbing down" the device and making it as simplified as possible. Having extra storage is good, but then there would be the inevitable complaints. Like when people use cheap class 2 speed memory and complain their video does not record well when they should have used class 6 or class 10 speed memory.

Apple rather you have to upgrade and spend all their money on them than give third party vendors more sales.

Just ordered 2 16GB 4S's on Apples site, no problems, took about 10 minutes. ATT tried to make me change from my grandfathered unlimited data so I went to Apple and my unlimited plan showed up.

Same here, going through ATT puts me into their 2GB plan, though Apple it retains my Unlimited Plan, wewt

Ah but they don't factor in family plans, they're setting me up as a separate line... guess I'll have to go to the store

lol....fair enough

But you might be surprised....look at the HP 2710p (usually U7600), or the Lenovo x61 (usually T7500) .

The market for used tablet PCs is pretty weak, everyone's out buying media tablets instead.

The rest i use Air Video to watch my PC Video Library. Music ~ 300 Songs. If anyone has upwards of 4 digits then its just stupid, A) Too much music to listen, B) After a while you stop listen to the same song as most became annoying. As for Apps last time i check they dont take too much space. Most are under 25MB mark. That being said 16Gb is very easy to fill but is it necessary?, i say No. If people have their Phone as a Music Library for all their songs then that also another problem.
Let's say you used 2GB for apps, 500MB for photos, 750MB for "other", and made your root folder 500MB larger through jailbreaking. On an 8GB device (really 6.8GB), that leaves you only 3GB for music. If you kept your music in lossless FLAC/ALAC, that leaves you room for only SIX albums, or about 70-80 songs. That's only ~1/4 the songs that you're carrying, and leaves you room for nothing else.

You really can't carry around a good variety of lossless music without at least 64GB, if not 128GB (32 only works if you carry around individual songs and not albums, AND don't have many apps).

A lot of iOS apps are above 500 megs. Things like origami tutorials, games, exercise videos all fill up my 32G ipod touch in addition to music.

That said the 64g model is pretty much the smallest and densest device ever!

More storage that any other phone. Smaller than any other smartphone out.

Yeah, I was being pretty conservative in those estimates . Then again, I do know people who only have like 1 or 2 simple apps (30MB total?) and just fill it up with music.

4S Black 32GB preordered!

No one was in line too, love living out here. Such low foot traffic.. well mostly old people, and they have no idea what this whole "phone-that-can-do-other-stuff-than-make-calls" thing is

How many fake sandisk cards are out there? Don't forget how this lessens support issues as well. When one company is supporting more than 1/4 of all smartphones decisions like removable memory make a big difference.

Youre basically right, except when i think that Apple should not have to support fake or slow cards messing up the user experience, I come to the conclusion that its reasonable to offer 8, 16, 32 and 64 gb iPhones for most consumers.

- Buy from a reputable dealer (Best Buy, NewEgg, Fry's)
- SD card storage is basically still flash, higher-class ones are just as good as internal memory

Pre-ordered the 4S 16GB.
I hardly use the space on my current 3GS so why spend extra for something I won't use?
