[NW] Apple calls out Microsoft for slow adoption of Windows 7, slants the facts - Page 14

-New apps
-Refinements to old apps
-Core system remains unchanged

Guys... its not a service pack. Its an expansion pack. Compare it to something like a WoW expansion or the latest Call of Duty.

And Apple is also conveniently glossing over the fact that Microsoft has sold more copies of Windows 7 than Apple has sold Mac, iPods, iPhones, and iPads in the entire 30 year history of their company.

All right, please define what you mean by "core system" and how exactly it is unchanged. Also, explain how 7's core system changed in comparison to Vista.

Apple never charges for updates/service packs either... Vista Service Pack 7 did actually cost money though. And I had to pay per machine unlike Lion which works on hundreds of thousands of machines for just $30.

Nice try Apple, how does it feel maintaining 5% of the market? Sounds like it might be easier to push an OS to significantly less people.

I want to see Microsoft release some graphs showing the amount of lawsuits with a years time.

Just has a look and lol 90% of those things that are on there Windows has had for years.

Auto Save
That has been around since Office 2003

FaceTime
Basically Skype that can only be used on Apple products.

FileVault 2
Winrar

Drag files, Keep both files
Hmm didn't Vista have that?

Full-Screen Apps
been around since 1995 on Windows

Lion Recovery
System restore (again been around since 1995)

Resume
Wake up in Windows. I can't remember properly but hasn't this been around since Win98?

The rest of these were in new features but my Mac with OS X Tiger has them:

Accessibility, Address Book, AirDrop(except its not called AirDrop it' called bluetooth), AppleScript, Automator, Finder, iCal, iChat, Mail, Preview, QuickTime Player, Safari, Spotlight, System, System Preferences, Text, TextEdit.

From what I can see on the Apple website the only real new features are Mission Control and LaunchPad.

Until then, there's no way in hell I"m going to buy over priced proprietary hardware to get an OS that does less than the one I already have

The only big thing OS X has is Final Cut Pro, which is widely used in the video making industry.
We have Adobe Premiere Pro, it rocks.

Correct me if i'm wrong but from 2001 up until now aren't all called OS X and just have a different version number? i.e Cheetah is OS X v10 and Lion is OS X v10.7?

Each version has added to the previous version, improving and refining it. They are the same fundamental OS, its just getting tweaks, refinements etc.

It can not be compared to XP -> Vista (as steel said) but it could be compared to Vista -> 7. Now if every Windows user had Vista then the comparison would have merit as you are comparing apples to apples. However the majority of users are switching from XP to 7 therefore you can not compare Lion to 7. The only way to do this is to actually find who was using Vista and upgraded to 7 and then compare the adoption rate. Not take entire Windows and compare it.
