Ive found this alot.

Where I work we have the full range of retail mac products.
If you take the basic macbook pro which is i5 sandybridge, 4gb ram, 500gb and intergrated graphics which is £999 here in the uk...now take the spec and add it to an ASUS laptop that actually has the same CPU but 6gb and 640gb HDD thats £499...

So whats the other £500 for? Can't be the OS cus thats worth £21 apparently

Isn't Lion merely a service pack, not a new OS. I bet the service pack update is much higher on Windows considering that they have the majority of the market regardless.

Hipsters will upgrade their Apple product immediately... unless one version is called retro, in which they will all revert to said version until yet another version comes out. Repeat.

On the contrary, I'm talking about Macs in the US -- that's what I've compared them against anyway. Macs aren't as expensive as they used to be, the Air, iMac, Mini, and the dual processor Mac Pro's are all comparable to the competition. The MacBook Pro is usually poorly compared although it is the most expensive comparatively.

No, not at all. It's just a line thrown out by those uneducated on the subject who generally happen to be somewhat anti-Apple. Lion was a big upgrade in many respects. It isn't in anyway comparable to a service pack.

not sure if it was mentioned as i haven't read the whole thread but alot of people forget that corporations are still using XP based solely on a financial point of view, if it didn't cost so much for them to have to report all their customized software majority of the companies out there would switch over to 7 already.

and apple has its place but they did stretch and hide a few facts and stat's in their keynote to their advantage and any company is going to want to do that because they have investors and other important people at those events that don't want to see a failing product and want to be reassured that their money is being invested properly

I'd educate you however, I'd end up getting asked the same question in another five minutes and then again. Ultimately, a lot. Google, if you like.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/features.html

The odd thing is, is this is merely a similarity between the different versions of office. This is a feature change, not an OS equivalent change. Lion is a simple update to existing features rather then a redesigned OS.

Building upon an OS and updating its feature set are entirely different. Would you consider Crysis 2 and Crysis 2 DX11 update to be 2 different games? No. Calling it for what it really is not what was considered here.
