Since 2008, PC manufacturers have gradually upgraded the PC's controller to support HDMI-output in addition to DVI. Due to electrical and pin compatibility between the DVI and HDMI, only a simple passive adapter (or DVI-D to HDMI cable) is necessary in order for the PC to output HDMI to a compatible HDMI-display (such as a television), and take advantage of HDMI features (such as audio output.)
-Wikipedia

Spanish version : You need a DVI-D to HDMI to properly transmit the sound, otherwise it will only carry the video.

You will need the DVI-D Dual Link if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure single link would work too but I have no clue.
EDIT : After all, they are both DVI-D they should both carry sound smile.gif

Could be hard to find that though.
Best to pop in to a store. Trial and error maybe.

You only have to show up in a store and say :
Hi, I would like either a DVI-D to HDMI adapter or a DVI-D to HDMI cable.

EDIT: You will pay much less if you buy : [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-Female-DVI-D-Adaptor-Convertor/dp/B0044LYFSY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1317754894&sr=8-11"]this adapter[/ame]

If you read above you will notice there is 2 DVI.
DVI-I
DVI-D

You card came with a DVI-D, transmitting the sound.
You bought a DVI-I which is why the sound isn't working anymore.
You will need to buy a DVI-D to HDMI adapter/cable to carry over the sound.

I may have spoke too soon with MP. This sound thing seems to be tricky.
