How outdated is my sig rig now?

Thread Starter
Hey people,

Ive been busy will all kinds of things lately and have forgotten how awsome this forum is. I joined a combat shooting club and it sucked me in.. i thought building pc's was expensive...but now it seems like pocket change compared to my new damn hobby..

I would like to get back into working on my rigs, how outdated is my sig rig? Are people still rocking the good ole 920 d0's? Should i consider parting out and building something new or is there something great on the horizon?

I know my graphics card, hhd, and memory could use some help, but how are the other components doing?

Thanks

It's not the peak of technology, but the i7 920 is still a beast of a chip. Add an SSD for your OS, and update the GPUs. There is nothing really for an upgrade until s2011SB comes out, until then, you're fine.

Your CPU is still plenty fast. I would recommend you upgrade your graphics card in a few months once the HD7000 series comes out.

Your HDD is not bad either. I'm still rocking 640GB Caviar Blues in RAID 0 and it's fast enough for me. SSD's are still a bit expensive, so I would wait until they drop in price before jumping on one.

Your CPU doesn't require an upgrade, case is fine, PSU is overkill. Overall your rig is naice

I would advise you to get an SSD. You will see a huge difference in speed.

So outdated that you should give me that system

Serious note, a new GPU like a GTX580 if you're willing to fork 450-500.

Otherwise your system is still a beast. CPU upgrades would be more of a side upgrade really.

I'm not with the new SSD mode... get a new GPU. That's all.

i7 920 is still rock-solid!
