i3 vs amd dual core

Help me choose a laptop for mid end gaming...

1. Laptop with i3 + intel HD graphics
2. Laptop with amd 2.4 ghz HD 4250 or equivalent

which one would give me the most FPS in games...since both laptops can be used for decent work.
Llano, period.

EDIT: Will find examples, budget?

EDIT2: With those two? It'd be close. I'd lean to the i3, though, dunno if the 4250 is worth it considering the i3's architecture is that much better.

AMD is better in intergrated graphics
my laptops CPU: AMD Phenom II P840 about the same speed as the i3 processors

The downside with i3 laptops are the HD graphics. If are you into more processor hungry applications, get the i3. If you want gaming experience get the AMD with a decent gpu.

I want something portable...light to carry around and play games on it too:

I was in the market and i saw a laptop, fairly cheap, really cheap , equiped with phenom X4 970 and HD 6470M but the weight of that beast is around 2.6kg and probably the battery life will be too poor.

So again i'm in a confusion, if you guys can help me out of it.

How much is "fairly cheap, really cheap" does it have usb 3.0 and/or 10/100/1000 lan

I have the i5-2410M with the HD 6470M on a 14" laptop with USB 3.0 and 10/100/1000 lan and it's 2.2kg

It can play WoW with multisampling at x4 and everything on Ultra except water and shadow settings.

battery life is better than laptops I have had before but that is because I don't play games when on battery so it uses the intel hd graphics and turns off the 6470m if that phenom X4 970 only has the 6470m gpu I think your battery will be 3hr or less

I have an amd athlon x2 dual core (2ghz) laptop with radeon 4200 graphics, and my freind has an i3 laptop with intel graphics.

From what i can gather, the radeon graphics are very slightly better, but the i3 is about twice as quick cpu wise. I would go with the i3 given the choice, because the extra cpu grunt is enough to be worth the small trade off in graphics.

Its not like you can do much with a radeon 4200 anyway, this thing barely runs tf2, even with a fps config.
