Why do people want bigger phones? Anybody remember rotary phones? Brief case cell phones? The goal is the smallest usable form factor, and for a touch-interface, the iPhone line has it nailed. I don't want a small tablet as my phone, I want something the size of the palm of my hand.
I pray to god there are always phones with screens the size of the iPhones or SMALLER. Maximum usability at the smallest size.
I have small girly-like hands, and the HTC Evo 4G is still a very useable form factor for me, and the extra screen real estate is very nice imo. Although anything bigger, ya I probably wouldn't be able to reach my thumb across.
Evo is 4.3", I might be able to do 4", but no way I can go back to a 3.5" screen, even one as crisp as the iPhone 4 (although I have compared them side by side and I really can't see any pixels on either the Evo or iPhone at normal viewing distance).
