a GTX 570 is as high as you can get at that price point. It gives the 6950 a decent spanking in quite a few games, too.

560ti if you want a similar card to the 6950. Or if you want to beat you're mate, you can get a 570 for 300 with rebate.

In some cases the 6950 has battered the 560ti but in other games the 560ti has shined, if ATI made better drivers then they could destroy the 560ti.

the 6950 beats the 560ti in almost every game, but they're priced similar.

Concidering he wants it for BF3.. which is made for Nvidia card and you need a Nvidia card to get the most out of the game...

The answer is simple...

you want a 560, 570 or a 480..

any of them will do the job nicely

EDIT:

Just looked at his CPU...

Nvidia card even more recommended...

because it uses Physx and the nvidia card will take the load off his CPU

BF3 uses Physx and Cuda and supports nvidia 3d Vision..

Nvidia have put alot of money into the game so those features are in there..

so if you want to get the most out of the game you need a Nvidia card...

EDIT:

Just tried the game on my work pc which just has a pentium dual core and a Geforce 450 1GB

It runs rather well...

Graphics at max level on 1440x900 res with 30fps avg...

I would say that it is Geforce optimized

To run so well on a small card

ok so a 570 is at the very least on par/better then the 6950 correct? would a 1gb 570 > 2gb 6950?

and why are all the higher end nvidia cards (570's, 580's) all 1-1.5gb while the higher end radeons are all 2gb?

what does memory in vid cards do and is it important in furture-proofing?
