x58 or x79, wait? or BUY NOW!?

Thread Starter
I'm building a new production rig. I'm being impatient and having issues waiting, I want this new rig now so I can start experimenting with freon on my old system before I set up this new rig with direct fr*eon cooling using multiple cascades.

So here's the rig I want,

- I7-990x

- x58 Asus Sabortooth

- 24gb downclocked Corsair Vengeance 2000mhz to 1866mhz - Model CMZ12GX3M3A2000C10 (Asus should release a bios update for increased bw speed) Might also be able to tighten the timings after lowing the mhz..

- x2 GIGABYTE GV-N580UD-3GI GeForce GTX 580

- ST1500w PSU

should I wait for the new x79 chipset or go for this x58 rig? If you think a part change/oc or reasonably low price bump increases performance I would appreciate the insight.

Thanks,

OPthreeD

ah I have not, I'm about 6months out of date. that would be the x67 chipset right? I herd about recalls and bad boards on the x67 chipset got concerned and went to the 1366 socket.

P67/Z68 Chipset - 1155 Socket

Check out a 2600k setup, it's a very overclock friendly chip (Unlocked Multiplier) and will save you some cash but still provide the speed/cores/threads you need to get everything done.
