black screen on monitor

the system goes to a black screen after loading windows with their new video card, what would you tell them to do in order to troubleshoot the problem?

Personally, I think it's a driver issue. I would tell the person to boot in safe mode, delete the drivers from removeprograms. Restart the computer and reinstall the latest whql drivers. What do you guys think?

Either that, or a defective video card.

But yeah, try deleting the drivers and then re-installing them like you said.

When you say the screen goes black, do you mean like, no video comes up on the screen, but you hear like the, "Ding ding ding DING!" when entering windows?

After the windows splash start up, it instantly goes black. I mean if it goes to the start up, then the videocard isn't dead that's for sure.

Then it's probably just a driver issue; I'll try to think of another thing it could be.
