hulu/netflix sound issue

Thread Starter
Was bored yester day so I finally got around to setting up a htpc. Its kinda overkill but I game on it too. I paid for a subscription to hulu and netflix and the sound is out of sync for every video on both sites. you tube is fine and video playback is normal the sound is just out of sync. I was just wondering if I need special codecs or anything like that for either of the two sites? My internet conection should be fine speeds are rated at 15mb/down and 1mb/up and it is plugged directly into the modem/router so should be best in the house. Internet speed tests usually slightly less than 15mb they are around 13.

Here is my set up

cpu- amd 1100t
gpu- ati 6950
mobo - biostar 890fxe
sound - onboard sent through digital coax to surround sound set for signal to pass through ( is that o.k.)
connection like I said 15mb/down 1mb up

any help would be great really want to get a htpc set up intergrated into windows media center.

I suck at this kind of stuff so go slow. Thanks:teaching:

Try running the sound directly to the TV (HDMI or analog).
You could be having some delay caused by going through the surround system (not likely, but with your setup, that is the only thing I can think of).

I have Netflix in the WMC plugin and no problems with sound, but they all go directly to the TV/speakers. I also have no problems with the HULU Desktop ap (with sound sync at least).
