Going 16GB - 4x4GB or 2x8GB? (Asus P8P67 Deluxe)

Hi all,

I have the Asus p8p67 deluxe, a 2600k, and a Mugen 3 cooler. Can anyone recommend a set of sticks that totals 16GB?

Is it better to go with 4x4GB or 2x8GB?

I would like to run them at 1866MHz, so DDR3-2000 is a good bet. I'll take 1600MHz if I have to.

I am currently running stable at 4.5GHz, if it matters. (45x100)

Thanks!

Main box:
i7_2600k @ 4.5GHz @ 1.35v on an Asus P8P67 Deluxe with Mugen 3 (SCMG-3000)
Antec 300, with 2x extra Scythe 120mm 900rpm front fans.
OCZ Vertex3 240GB, evga GTX 470 superclocked

2x8? You'd be lucky not to spend hundreds of dollars senselessly.

I'm going 16GB on a Pro version of your board and doing 4x4GB like I did with my AMD build. Overall it was about $120. Quite reasonable

I appreciate the blunt advice

Other than $$, what is the next factor that is important in this decision? OC ability?

Space, and less power useage, 2 more stk won't use much more power, but still. And the as far as space 2 less stk means more space and less heat and better air flow.

Thanks again to all - this article was quite revealing about how little real-world difference is seen when using different memory speeds: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4503/sandy-bridge-memory-scaling-choosing-the-best-ddr3/1
