Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Flight Stick

Thread Starter
I just purchased the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro to use with Jets/Helis in BF3. This is my first flight stick and I wanted some help setting it up. I have been reading around and hear different things, the Logitech software for this allows you to fully customize the keys, however some say it can mess up calibration and to not install it.

So if you own this, are you using the Logitech software or just using whatever windows brings up to control the flight stick?

Appreciate any help.

I wouldnt install the logitech software. Battlefield 2 will recognize your joystick as it is. The software might allow you to use a "mode" or "shift" button to double up your keys, but there isnt enough functions to make use of them anyways.
Alot of people including myself have had problems playing Battlefield 3 beta with their Joysticks/pedals plugged in. I was randomly spinning in circles, until someone recommended to unplug the joystick. Even though it will eventually patched, I doubt this issue will be fixed in time for the final release. No need to complicate things by installing extra, uneeded software.

is this a good joystick though? actually looking to buy this myself for BF3, as you stated it will eventually be correct and may even be fixed when the game releases.

i have a very difficult time flying in BF3 with the mouse. i need high sensitivity in BF3 for ground action and that doesn't translate well to flying.

A bit late reply but i guess it might help some people later on.
I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro as well and during the BF3 beta, it showed the same issues as it had in Bad Company 2, meaning extremely poor flightstick support trough the game, this was an issue with basicly every joystick for these games, not just this one.

They claim they'll have it fixed for the retail version, or at least that its a high priority, but until then, use the logitech profiler program.
I used it during the beta and it worked pretty well, you had to invert the Y axis, and set some of your keys, not every key worked either, but at least it was usable, not what can be said about people trying to set it up trough the ingame controls.

I'd say don't install it yet once the final is released, see if they fixed the native joystick support, but if they haven't, go for it & use the profiler, it works fairly well even if its not fully supported as people would like it to be (hatch doesnt work for looking outside, things like that)

Time for another late reply.

As a former Logitech Extreme3d user I say this:
Use the Logitech software only if your software does not allow you to use all the buttons and controls in the way you want them to, or if you need to adjust things like dead-zones.

These sticks do wear out quickly under heavy use. Mine lasted around 9 months under very heavy use in MW4. You'll know when it happens as it starts to feel sloppy, and drifts, requiring increased dead zones. Fortunately, they're cheap sticks, and comfortable.

PLEASE HELP!

I just got this joystick in the mail today. Institutionally, I installed the software... After hours of trial and error, reading other peoples posts, I uninstalled the software... Followed procedures they explained by unbinding misc controls, etc.

I also have a logitech keyboard and mouse (k360 and g700) so I thought those may be conflicting. I also have a Razer Nostromo which came up as a game controller with the joystick. I tried many different combo's...

Fact is, I cannot get BF3 to bind a single key. This has been from the start. Windows drivers, and the logitech software all detects it fine. Calibrations are perfect.

I work computer IT. I'm not a know it all but I do however know a thing or two about trouble shooting, and I've gotten no where over the past four or five hours. I just wanna fly a heli and jet in BF3 damnit =(

Again, please help. Anything will be appreciated.
