Newegg reviews of the Antec HCG-620

Thread Starter
I've been reading up as much as possible the last few days, getting quite an education (thanks Phaedrus, Tator Tot, and everyone else!).

So just when I thought I had it all figured out, I was checking out the HCG-620 on newegg and was surprised to see so many bad reviews for what I thought was essentially a rebadged seasonic.

Most of the other PSUs recommended here have great newegg reviews (over 70% 5-eggs), and normally I find newegg reviews to be pretty good indicators of quality products. Any ideas about the disparity on this one?

Should I ignore the fact that less than 50% gave it 5-eggs, because it's a pretty good price over at Micro Center (with a coupon), but I'm having doubts.

Thanks for your help!

Seems like a good PSU. Based off of the Seasonic S12II

Odd that there's so many DOA in the newegg reviews though. It's really the only "bad newegg reviews."

One thing you have to keep in mind with Newegg (or anyone else for that matter) is why people are giving a less than perfect rating; for example:

"Something always has to give me troubles when I upgrade....You will have a hard time hooking up multiple hard drives if they sit sideways in your case like mine do. The extra wire length between each connector bows out rather stiffly, meaning you have to do some pretty extreme bending to get things where you can put the side of your case back on."

That's the first one listed; the others which knock down the rating claim DOA, and those outliers are going to have a big impact given a mere 29 reviews.

Thanks for the insight. What I was missing was with that small amount of reviews, each negative has a much larger impact. I assume they will even out over time, as everything else I've read indicates it's a solid unit.

Thanks again!

Also that EVERY manufacturer has a "bad batch" and many people will post reviews of the bad verses the great and those with great experiences will not post reviews - if that makes sense.
