DDR2 1066 versuses DDR2 800.

With the priciness of DDR2. Is there really that much advantage of going with 1066 to upgrade over 800. Or is it really worth it? Afterall, ram is overclocked along with the processor when doing overclocks.

It's only worth it for even higher overclocks. I only needed faster RAM for making my CPU properly stable since my DRAM:FSB was too low to POST.

Well, I've got some patriot ram in my sons computer. E7400 and asus P5Q SE/R. If I jump that ram say over 960, it's gonna get a blue screen error guaranteed. Was just thinking about stability. I got his computer running at 3.2GHZ but I'd like to get more out of it. Even though it's sped it up nicely already.

Anyone know best price for some 1066 ram? He's got 4 gigs of ddr2 800 right now. Too bad it just can't use ddr3

Why not just drop the memory divider and then you can raise the FSB. Or if you are using a low cpu multi, raise that up and run 1:1 or something. With a 10.5x cpu multi, 800mhz ram shouldn't be holding you back.

I had that dedate with myself and went for 1066 ram with a q6600 my best oc came with a fsb ratio of 1:1 so 3.6Ghz = 800Mhz
another words I down clocked my ram only need faster ram if going over 3.6Ghz
