So if I am not mistaken, that is a fat 360. If that is the case, do you have a hard drive for it? I just tried a couple things on my uncased "Zephyr" console. First I signed into XBL with my HDD, Memory Card and USB plugged in, Account on the Memory Card. Signed in no problem, also had no problem signing in with the USB and or the HDD gone. Same result when I had the account on the HDD, I could sign in np without the Memory card or the USB, but when I sign in from the USB, with the Memory card and HDD disconnected, it tells me I require a system update.

If I remember right I had to format (FAT32 I think not sure) in Windows before it would work right. Yes, the Xbox 360 has it's own format but that is just what I had to do.

It varies for each usb stick. I had no problems with Lexar and Sandisk. And Sandisk makes the Xbox branded USB, which comes preloaded with the xbox settings.

I dont think the xbox formats USB sticks, it creates a "virtual" partition inside a number of files on the stick.
