Recommend me a new monitor to upgrade. - Page 2

a 120hz monitor allows you to see framerates over 60 so when your machine can do 90 fps u see 90 fps so everything is insanely smoother even at desktop and moving the mouse. Its like going from 30fps to 60fps, 60 to 100+ is just as nice

Really? I never thought of that. Having a 120hz monitor can give your video card framerate room? I actually never knew this. Is this true? If so i may consider a 120hz monitor after all. Looks like i'll have to get used to 3D if i ever wanna try it lol. Might suck anyways cuz i ain't a fan of 3D games. However.. 3D in theatres. I'm fine with that.

Otherwise i'll pick a weekend and get some beer and play 3D on a game and get tripped lol. Like Crysis 2 for example. But anyways.. can someone clarify this? Can you see more framerates with 120hz?

heres all the monitors on newegg that are 1080p or more, and are either open box or re-certified, in case you want to go that route

yes a normal 60hz lcd monitor only refreshes 60 times thats why vsync caps your frame rate at 60 but a 120hz monitor refreshes 120 times so if you can push 120 fps in a game you will see every frame so it increases smoothness to movement and animations. laso u know how some games feel funny with vsync on? well u dont need to use it with 120hz display unless your machine is cranking out over 120fps

Wouldn't a 120hz bottleneck? Also I would never trust open box orders from NewEgg at all. I like my merchandise brand new lol.

Does anyone know where i can find 120hz at a great affordable price as long the monitor lasts a long time with no problems. There has to be at least one in the range of 165 and 200 dollars. I know it's low but i wanna be able to buy a video card at the same time otherwise i'd have to wait. Man i never realized 120hz monitors are extremely expensive. What about monitors with 75hz? Does that give me more fps compared to 120hz? I still think 120hz is better. Prices are a bit steep however. Dunno what to do right now. My birthday is coming up in two months i could always ask a favor lmao.

They don't sell that monitor anymore on your sig rig unfortunately. Good to know it works out well for ya. I do want a 120hz but i might have to wait til they get more out there. There aren't so many 120hz monitors i can find at all. Frankly i'm surprised. I thought there would be more in sale for the marketing company but no. I only find a few 120hz. From Newegg to Tiger Direct. I wonder if they ever intend to make more 120hz monitors?

I'm not sure if Skyrim will support higher resolutions. Might want to wait till it gets released. I'm kinda in the same boat. Not sure to go with a faster monitor or 2560x1600.

lol

Critical, skyrim will support 2560x1600 and 2560x1440, it's guaranteed. The worst case scenario possible would be if 16:10 resolutions were letterbox, but that doesn't happen in almost any modern game, only one or two.

Eyefinity resolutions are another thing, they may not be supported, or might, we don't know, but as far as single monitor resolutions go, they are guaranteed to be supported. There's some fear that this might be a rare exception for eyefinity support (not working that is) due to certain elements.

@pwnt4life: What do you seek in the monitor? What is the budget?
