Need Megahalems help please.

Thread Starter
Early I installed the promlimatech megahalems and I am just wondering if it is bad that I tightened the screws all the way after I placed the heatsink on the cpu. They can't tighten anymore, is this bad?
I also put some pressure on the heatsink myself before I put the screws on, hope this wasn't bad.

As long as you did not start on one side only and tighten it down all the way, you're fine. The reason not to start on one side and tighten down all the way, is that the thermal paste gets pushed to the edge of the processor/heatsink, and is not able to evenly spread.

If you gradually tightened down all your screws (most preferably going diagonal to diagonal) then you are A-ok!

Again with the pressure thing, as long as you didn't only apply pressure to one side of the heatsink as to push all your thermal paste to one side, this is fine.

Ya I didn't tighten one side down all the way first, for my cooler there are only 2 screws to tighten. If paste overflowed off the cpu, will my temps be very very high under idle? Will it cause any damage?

Not necessarily. If a little came out from the sides you are ok. I have my megahalems pretty tight on my board as well and it cools like a champ. As you can see I have my 2600k at 1.4 stable and my prime temps never go above 72 (on a warm day).

I feel so much better now, thank you. Will leave it sitting out all night, then finish tomorrow, hopefully nothing goes wrong.
