Slow and steady winning?

Thread Starter
Ok so since my X3 445 unlocked into a Phenom II X4 B45 with L3 cache, is it ok to use the stock Athlon II fan on a Phenom X4? Right now the processor is @ stock speeds with the idle temps @ 49c and the fan spinning at 2830 RPM. When prime 95-ing, the temps are @ 66c with the fan at 3860 RPM. 'Cuz i know Phenom's use a larger fan.

Oh no don't even think about it! Get a Hyper 212 or some budget CPU cooler.

The highest CPU temperature for Phenoms II is 62°C. Get it under 55 just to be on the safe side.

I plan on getting an aftermarket cooler in a few months, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 +. Will the fan hold out till then?

Get a Hyper 212+ or better

Always keep it below 62C "Core Temp" and not 60C for extended periods.

See my guide for more information.
