it was really hard to tell what was going on in that battle with ifrit... i guess it's a bit more simplified once you get into the game...

everyone controls their own players i assume

Yessir, the fights look very chaotic but its a pretty organized chaos. The fights really resemble boss fights like in 11.

I hope this is true. I really liked FFXI and was amped to play FFXIV on Ps3. Then that version got delayed, the actual game came out and I literally couldn't find a positive review. After Bf3 beta ends I'll probably d/l it on pc and test it out.
