Races

Quote:
The Elezen are a characteristically tall people, long of limb and slender of build. They are also possessed of a somewhat extended lifespan in comparison to the Hyur. The Elezen once claimed sole dominion over Eorzea, their presence predating that of the other races, and, as such, developed a heightened sense of honor and pride. In years past, the Hyur migration into Elezen lands sparked bitter conflict. At present, however, the mutual understanding reached between the two races allows them to work towards mutual peace and prosperity.
Quote:
Over the course of some one thousand years and three great migratory waves, the Hyur have come to be the most populous of the civilized races in Eorzea. Compared to the others, theirs is an average physique, both in terms of height and build. The Hyur champion personal freedom and liberty, and their espousal of an eclectic variety of languages and traditions is a legacy of their diverse heritage―as is their resulting lack of a unified cultural identity.
Quote:
The Lalafell are a folk both rotund and diminutive. Small by any race's standards and possessed of a childlike countenance, it proves difficult for non-Lalafell to gauge an individual's age with any degree of accuracy. Originally an agricultural people inhabiting the fertile islands of the south seas, they found their way to Eorzea via the burgeoning trade routes. Lalafell are welcoming of outsiders, and share prosperous relations with all of the other races of Eorzea.
Quote:
Though their presence in Eorzea is lesser than that of the other races, the Miqo'te are easily distinguished by their large, projecting ears and restless, feline tails. The ancestors of this line first made their way to the realm during the Age of Endless Frost in the Fifth Umbral Era, traversing frozen seas in pursuit of the wildlife upon which they subsisted. Instinctual territoriality causes many among them to lead solitary lifestyles. Males in particular are said to shy from contact with others.
Quote:
The Roegadyn are easily identified by their massive, muscular frames. They are descended from a maritime people that roamed the northern seas, though many of their ancestors turned their longships south to brave the crossing into Eorzean waters. Often considered a barbaric race, the fiercely competitive Roegadyn are also known for their compassion and unswerving loyalty. Many of the greatest warriors in history were born of Roegadyn stock.

Yessir, the fights look very chaotic but its a pretty organized chaos. The fights really resemble boss fights like in 11.

I hope this is true. I really liked FFXI and was amped to play FFXIV on Ps3. Then that version got delayed, the actual game came out and I literally couldn't find a positive review. After Bf3 beta ends I'll probably d/l it on pc and test it out.

Yes i agree, i really do not know what they were thinking with the release and direction last year was going in...They are DEFINITELY on the right track to recovering this game and making it something great!

I am pretty excited that they have started the primal battles, kinda a hint that summoner may be added here some time in the future!

I love the FF series never seen this before. Might jump on and try it. Most Free MMO are rubbish tho.
It wasn't originally free. The game was so bad at launch that they had to ditch the monthly fee to keep any kind of playerbase. I'd say it has the possibility of going back to a monthly fee, but probably a smaller one.

They'll return to monthly fees as soon as the game is half way decent but I agree with Viscerous though that when they do they pretty much have to go in a smaller fee, then maybe slowly build it back up but something like 8-9 bucks seems fair.

This was my "game I looked forward to the most" before it was released. Then like everyone else I was so disappointed. I'm glad to see things are finally looking up for FFXIV. I've thought about giving it another try the last few days and this makes me want to even more.

Yes and no, what happened was they released the game and it blew like superman 64 level >.>; So SE decided that since the game blew they gave every person a free EXTRA month on top of the free extra month that came with the game. But since the game still BLEW, just putrid, horrid, stank, funk, that decided until the game was brought to the level that it should be the game would free of a monthly fee. So my question was had they started charging yet and as it seems if you Buy the game now, it still won't have a fee, but for how long no one knows.

thanks, just bought it, £4.50 pretty good price, imo they should just have micro transactions, many companies are realising that we don't like monthly fees!, we prefer to spend our money when we want, and when we do we spend more than enough on silly things like clothes and mounts etc (me) haha.

Finally it seems like things are looking up. I was one of the unlucky that preordered the collectors edition >

Only played for a couple months before I couldn't deal with the constant crap the game threw at you. I really want to go back as I have a ton of buddies that migrated from FFXI. Despite the shortcomings, we had some fun once they added Notorious Monsters. Guess I'll have to break out my copy and reinstall it to see the changes and if it makes the game worth getting back into.
