You should be able to switch by just equipping a non-spell caster weapon(swords,axes,hammers,etc.). The weapon you equip will determine the class.

I'm about to f'ing rage. Bought FFXIV today. Installed it. game wouldn't download updates from the server (kept timing out). One possible solution was drivers on graphics cards. So I go through hell updating my video card drivers for hours. Finally get it working, no BSOD and it still freezes during the update. mad.gif

"File download timed out. Please shut down and restart FFXIV"

any suggestions?

Edit: Ok it seems FFXIV downloads using p2p software which my university blocks. Does any1 know of a place I can direct download the patches that is legit? http://tehkrizz.net/FFXIV/downloads.php

That website has a lot but I'm not sure if it has the latest.

Maybe try adding ffxiv.exe to your antivirus exceptions and make sure its allowed through firewall settings.
Ahh just saw your edit. I have no idea about that.

That is one thing I CLEARLY remember from FFXI. Any sort of downloads were a PAIN.
I just installed it earlier today, and the first 50% of the download smashed at over 300KB/s, usually over 500 most of the time, and then after that it just dropped down to less than 150 with the same number of peers or whatever the downloader calls them, and turtled along for a few hours like that. Also, I was trying to play The Witcher while it downloaded and after the 50% point it seemed like whenever I was in the game, the rate would drop under 20KB/s unless I brought the downloader into the foreground. confused.gif

Edit: wow, this thing is BEAUTIFULL wubsmiley.gif

Wow was up to 5 a.m. manually downloading and patching the files. That website link I posted worked. The reason it took so long was I d/l EVERY patch and I only needed to d/l 10 of them.... /sigh. If any1 else has to do it manually I can tell you what patches to use so you don't waste a ton of time.

Game is very purrty.

Name: Logen Ninefingers I'm in Besaid/Lumina so LS invite plz
