I'm currently on Phoenix though I haven't done much so can easily re-roll if needs be thanks to the character data save.

Finding it really slow at the moment though and the map is a bit confusing to use due to lack of any obvious quest location markers.

Thread Starter

Ill be adding some more information to topic soon!  More details appeared on the lodestone about 2.2 content, as well as another website with leaked images and what to expect.

Im getting very excited for 2.2 now especially with Diablos :D

So I've been really excited about this game since I read the reviews for RR and have plans to somehow hold off until summer. That being said, I have a few questions to prepare myself:
Foolishly, some of these questions I'm kind of hoping for/expecting good answers to since I'm becoming more and more convinced I'll start playing in June.

Is this a good first MMO? By this I simply mean, will I be totally lost if I jump into this? I haven't ever been enticed by an MMO before but I know there's a whole subculture to be discovered here. I'm thinking I won't be completely helpless if I don't have 3 years of WoW experience, but I'd like to make sure.

Performance wise, will I be able to run this game well? I know my rig is a little outdated, but I haven't had too many problems with other games. I have heard that MMOs are kind of CPU intensive though so I'm wondering if that will be an issue. My 920 has a pretty terrible OC track record, but I can probably pump it up to at around 3.6ghz if that'll help (please no one tell me "You should definitely be able to get it to 4.0!" I can, just barely and it's not worth the loss of efficiency. Even at 3.6-3.8 it will BSOD randomly after a few months).

Are there a lot of big ticket items to collect and go through? One of the few things that interested me about MMOs in the past was the huge amount of effort it takes to get things like end game gear and the extremely expensive (in game currency) things like housing. I'm hoping that this (or at least the version that's out by June 14th) delivers on all fronts.

And finally, the question that I'm only going to accept a "yes!" to: Is the game fun?

Thanks!

The game is very easy to jump into. They do a good job with Tutorials and or short quest lines to explain any new content you unlock on your journey.

Im not sure what you PC specs are but an i7 920 should have enough juice and anything over a gtx250 will run the game pretty good even lower cards can handle it at certain settings.

If you want to make money you have to work at it just like in real life lol. Currently the housing system is only for Free Companies(guilds) but player housing is being worked on. With the new patch coming out this month it will be helping to cater to new Players since the PS4 launch will be happening in April so getting gear will be alot easier at the start and even harder or maybe just a little more complicated to get as you get to End Content.

I myself stopped playing for a few months (ive played since the original 1.0 version) and i started playing again this week and it is all just a matter of remembering were i left off and what gear I want biggrin.gif

Awesome, that's exactly what I wanted thanks smile.gif

It's weird that my rig isn't showing up suddenly...I don't remember changing any settings, but I'll fiddle with it for a bit. I've got a gtx 480 so it's a volcano, but it's got at least a little power. Since I usually just play older games from steam sales I am used to running things at the higher settings, but I suppose I can figure out what I need to change once I get in there.

I'm definitely looking forward to the development of the game and increasing the complexity of rewards. I tend to be a completionist, but I don't feel like many single player games have large enough hurdles for their Infinity +1 loot. Not that some of those trials aren't hard, frustrating, or annoying (I'm looking at you dodging 200 lighting bolts in FFX...), but it seems a little too transient for me. So something that is being updated and that will take me a bit of time to get to the bottom of sounds exceptionally appealing. Plus I'll need something to distract me for a good amount of time while I wait to hear back from med schools sad-smiley-002.gif

Would have if the Lodestone site wasn't blocked from my work computer smile.gif. Really looking forward to this update.

Have they changed their stance on "We want players who don't raid to have the same/better gear than the end-game raiders?" yet? Because I loved this game until that was announced by Yoshi-P.

I don't care that people outside of coils can grind WP, AK, and CM for marks to get gear, but if that gear (which it was at the time) is equal (better in some slots) than the gear dropping in coils, then it really feels like you're being slapped in the face for putting in the time and effort to actually clear those turns. So all they really need to fix for me to go back is make it so the dropped raid gear is hands down better than the grinded gear.
