Good job on updating the OP. I just watched the latest video show casing some quests and combat. Really looking good, I cant wait to play.

Also heard another batch of invites got sent out today via FF_XIV_EN twitter account, said next batch of invites are going out on the 10th. I didnt get one yet so still hoping.

Really liking the dev blogs as well, that first one with the artwork showing a baby chocobo and the bomb. Some of us are wondering if they are going to add vanity pets in this version...which would be awesome IMO.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Which video show cases combat? am I missing it?

Edit: found the video, not sure how I like the questing. It looks very polished, but the thing I loved the most of FF11 was xp parties. so I hope there is an option for both

I was just about to link it. I had just randomly logged onto YouTube yesterday afterwork and saw that SE had uploaded a new video to the FFXIV English playlist. I dont know anything about the questing in FFXI and barely remember anything from FFXIV 1.0 so it looks fine to me. I have heard some people asking for a little bit of voice acting when receiving a quest, not all but some NPC''s would be cool.

I wont lie, the dialog from NPC's and the voice acting in GW2 was nice. Not having to read the whole thing all the time is nice, but there is a sweet spot. You cant have them talking to slow then people dont want to listen and will just read it since that would be faster, but you can make it really fast either or people will complain that its too fast.

Yes i really liked the XP parties in XI, but so far it looks like they have switched tot his method of lvling up and group activities seem to be limited to harder story quests, boss fights, and dungeons.

Combat looks much, much better than 1.0. Are we going to be able to have more than one hot bar of skills active at one time?

Yes there is the main hot bar and then there is a ctrl+ number bar sequence. There is also the ability to set macros to further customize combat abilities and move sequences like xi.

For those in the Alpha, dont cut scenes really remind you of FFXI? I love the burst of nostalgia i get every time im in a cut scene.

I can't wait for the benchmark I am due to build a new system and I'm basing it off this game. Glad to hear the combat and questing is better then 1.0. I had a really hard time getting into the game the fact that it was Final Fantasy was the only thing keeping me interested.
