Need help with setting timings for Kingston HyperX T-1 2133MHz RAM

Hi all!

I'm currently using this RAM:

http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/K...D3T1K4_8GX.pdf

It is running at 9-11-9-27 2T at 1.65v.

I want to lower the speed from 2133MHz to 1600-1866 and have it work at 1.5v, but I don't know what the timings should be. I want to lower it so I can reduce the amount of heat throughout my System and maybe push my CPU from 4.5GHz to 4.7-4.8GHz.

Can anyone advise accordingly?

Many thanks,

Rob

if 2133mhz = 9-11-9-27 2T then you should manage this:
2000mhz @ 8-10-9-24 2T
1866mhz @ 8-9-8-24 2T
1600mhz @ 7-8-7-20 2T
1333mhz @ 7-7-7-18 2T

by the way, your kit is rated for 2133mhz @ 9-11-9-27 1T, that 1T would make a good difference in ram performance, so unless you cant run in 1T i would change it to 1T and not 2T.

Thanks for the advice on the timings. The manufacturer advises to run the RAM at 9-9-9-27 at 1866MHz, but at least I've got something to play with.

I've tried upping the command rate to 1T, but with the voltages I currently have, it wont POST when booting. I've tried upping the VCCIO from 1.1 to 1.25 and still no change. I don't think it will run stable at 1T unfortunately.

The amount of heat that 1.65v makes over 1.5v is vitually nothing. I'd keep the voltage at the current 1.65 and start dropping the timings at 2133MHz just to see what it can do at that speed. Once you have a good baseline, lower the divider to 1866 without touching the timings and start cranking up the fsb until you (maybe) reach 2133MHz again. You should have a beastly clock speed if you can push 107-108 bclk on your rig using the 48-49 multi.

Thanks Farmer Boe,

The problem I thought with that was: 1st, the Sandy CPU's don't respond well to upping the BCLK over 102 due to instability caused in the On-board GPU and 2nd, my particular brand of RAM doesn't respond well to tighter timings...

(I've not actually tried any of this out... This is just what I've read on OCN)

What would be the safe way of doing that? I'm quite new to overclocking and any help I could get would be awesome!
