There were enough pc gamers in the late 90's to justify the r&d in making a hit shooter title. I'm sure that there are more pc gamers than ever... as people have to get sick sitting in front of a tv while gaming in low res and low framerates. Crytek obviously made a profit with Crysis the first go around, why "dumb" down the games so they're compatible with consoles? Shareholder profits, and board bonuses would be my guess.
Yes we can. It's called lying, and it's a great way to let people know to never trust or believe anything you say ever again.
Crytek really had something good with Crysis and Warhead. One of a kind shooters that defined that generation. They easily could have done the same with Crysis 2 given its' development time. Even if they delayed the game, I wouldn't have cared, so long as it came out polished.
I pre-ordered the game. It cost me $70. I didn't play the leak. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. That was the stupidest thing I have ever done besides slicing an artery open by accident.
The game was a disaster in every way on release. Dumbed down gameplay, poorer graphics, lesser technology, confusing and disorientated story, total detachment from the first games, lack of continuity, and so on. Don't get me started on the multiplayer. I played the beta of that. I never even touched the multiplayer on release. The game has it's own special "terribad" category to sit MoH 2010 and Sniper Ghost Warrior in my Steam library.
I felt robbed and cheated after Crysis 2.
I will never again pre-order any game unless I have played it in some form beforehand. Beta or otherwise. I will never again give Crytek the benefit of the doubt with ANY game. They lost my respect and they lost a customer. The same as Ubisoft.
