I have a 55", and I am still absolutely amazed with the contrast and beautiful slim design. It's scary to think that I got the "thicker" LED model. Their thinnest is .1", 3mm.

The thin screens are great and all but lead to screen uniformity issues. One step forward and two steps back.

$50/hr? Haha. $500 is more realistic and even that sounds low to me. Hell, I'm in VFX which isn't really a high paying field and still do better than $50.

On dark scenes in SD there is a SLIGHTLY noticeable variance in blacks, but in HD there is no noticeable bleed. I have really good 4 year coverage on it that covers everything from LED degradation to accidental physical damage, which would more than likely lead to a $1,800 credit to buy whatever I want. I got a bargain on it in comparison to it's $2,400 retail; got it for $1,800 with the 4 year coverage. I typically have it running even when I'm not watching it, (because my wife does, or I like listening to what's on the TV even if I'm not fully focused on it) so if anything goes, it'll hopefully go within those 4 years.

Oh, $500-$1,000 is correct. I used to be a corporate attorney, and even in my second year I was being billed out at $350 an hour.

All LED LCDs are thin (even if ones more than others). Where i think Samsung has really innovated without the problems of being pretty (edge-lit) is in their plasma range. All the benefits of being plasma, and the thinnest panels on the market. Samsung was the one brand to push Panasonic forward on the thin trend (granted both have been having PQ problems as of late).
