Looking For New Headphones

Thread Starter
Hey guys, im in the market for closed headphones, i mainly listen to pop-type music so primarily that's what it will be for, budget is £150, at the moment i have a Xonar DX soundcard so the headphones will be driven by that, right now i have Sennheiser HD215's, so obviously i am on the lookout for something that will blow these away, any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

music taste?
intended use of headphone?
other things to consider?

you have 30 points, assign them to how you like it to sound:

Bit of everything, so 10 points each i suppose, yeah i know, bit cliche that lol I just want a good sound overall, As i say the headphones will be used mainly for pop-type music, that's pretty much it, i am a gaming freak but 99% of the time i have music playing, so game sound isn't important.

I'm not heavily into the scene and dont have a huge amount of experience to make comparisons with etc but i recently picked up some Beyerdynamic DT 770 Premium Editions and they sound really good to me giving quite a balanced sound. right in your price range.

if not possibly try the OCN headphone club they will have some suggestions.

I think the Ultrasone HFI-680 would be good for you. They sell for just above 150 pounds on Thomann. If 150 pounds is a hard cap, you can look at the HFI-580.

You can also look at the Beyerdynamic DT770 Premiums mentioned above. You'll want the 32 ohm version since you'll be running them unamped. They're a bit more expensive than 150 pounds, though.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys Also ignore the no amp bit, i've decided to get one a couple of months down the line now so that won't be a factor anymore.

Also i've heard alot of good things about the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II and Audio-Technica ATH M50 headphones, anyone here have any experience with them??

HD-25-1 II's are DJ cans or for people that need isolation. They're good headphones, but very few people buy them because they're sort of a niche headphone.

The M50s are inferior to most of the other recommendations in this thread so far. You could also check out the Audio Technica A900s. Would probably suit your pop love best.
