Lower FPS than expected

Hello, I recently built my first gaming pc after years of torture playing games on a laptop. However, I'm not getting quite what I expected, or maybe I was just expecting too much?

System specs
Windows 7 64bit
Asus P6Z68-V Pro
i7 2600k
EVGA 1280MB GTX 570 Classified
8GB Vengeance
2TB WD Black Caviar 7200rpm

I have all the latest drivers etc.

All games will be played at max settings 1920x1080 and benchmarked using fraps benchmark tool. I believe the turbo boost for the cpu was auto set to 4400Mhz, GPU is at stock.

Crysis
Average: 25
Max: 33

Warhead
Average: 18
Max: 25

BF3 Beta
Average 39
Max 56

Fallout NV
Average: 41
Max: 63

Does this look unusual to anyone with similar hardware?

Alright mate The only outstanding framefrates i can see there from my own experiance is Fallout NV. With that setup you should get a solid 60 with vsync on....I manage that with texture packs and stuff so yours should be able to handle it. Although I found originally that my turbo boost wasnt working correctly with some games which led to huge drops in framefrate. New vegas for instance was running with 1.6ghz clocks so maybe its worth checking out what your clocks are doing during gameplay.

Hope that helps.

Going just over 4400MHz whilst playing, drops to around 1600 when tabbed out

That does seem strange...dont want to insult your intelligence but do you have decent drivers for your gpu?

edit: sorry i see you have latest drivers but as many will agree, the newest arent always the best especially for Nvidia

Warhead is so bad because apparently it auto changes to 1920x1080 24Hz, so I can't get more than 24fps on that.

Crysis is about half what people are getting with a 570 and the same settings (from what I'm looking at on YouTube, anyway).

I'll try reinstall the drivers and see if that helps

Edit: Had the BETA driver, going to try 280.26

After changing my driver to 280.26 I now get

Crysis (1)
Min 16
Max 25
Avg 20

Crysis Warhead
Min 17
Max 25
Avg 21

BF2
Min 31
Max 89
Avg 56

Fallout NV
Min 44
Max 62
Avg 56

Bioshock 2
Min 25
Max 61
Avg 50

Can no longer test BF3 with this driver. Also taking over 2 minutes to boot from powering on to login screen, with only the essential startup services

Those scores are pretty low i was getting much higher when i had my 570. Run some 3dmark11 and see what your performance score is.
