Funny thing is, we no nothing about the prime's hardware specs other than hearsay.

Having given it some thought, I've decided that buying the latest smartphone is a waste of money. Here's why:

you
don't
need
all
this
power
to
surf
the
web,
text
message,
make
calls,
or
play
terrible
games.

Save your money.

Spend it on a bigger TV, a faster desktop, bigger/better speakers, or food.

You also dont need 2x GTX 580's, a 2600k @ 5ghz, etc. to play any modern game at any single resolution - yet here we are on OCN, sanding $1000 CPUs to get the temps down a degree or two.

OK guys, lets stop all production of new technology right now. We don't need it, its a waste of money.

Do you need it, though?

YES/NO?

EDIT: Sigh, forget it. Once a sheep, always a sheep.

Actually you do. To get minimum 60FPS at max res with AA/AF, you DO need SLI/CF. What you DON'T need is 3-way SLI GTX 580's for say Starcraft 2 on Ultra at 1080p.

I understand very well the meaning of overkill, but a good game on full settings is a pleasure to behold and a genuine form of entertainment.

On the other hand, buying a $600 phone to play Angry Birds and browse this site is stupid when you can get the same terrible experience on a phone that's half the price.

This point of diminishing returns is a pretty simple concept to grasp...but it's something that ppl who will buy the Nexus Prime can't quite grasp, or they are just living in denial.

My point is this: spend your money on things that matter, and spend it wisely. If you believe that you need all this power to do the mundane things that a smartphone does, then you are blind.

PS. The point of diminishing returns on a gaming desktop is around the 6970/GTX 580 CF/SLI level. Past that, you're either running multiple monitors with all the details turned up, or you're a snob.

You mean like people with hexa (and soon to be octa) core PCs?

You
have

Do yourself a favor, research and learn the benefits of hardware specs on a smartphone.

Lol why don't you tell me genius? Or did you want to sound all special and "in the know" without giving any examples?
