Recommend a Monitor for Skyrim - Page 2

I am not a big proponent of 27" TN based screens. The color shift from top to bottom is amplified more the bigger the vertical size of the screen. To me this is not only apparent on regular desktop, but also in games. You get a dark top and a bright, less contrasted image at the bottom.

I would probably say the S27A850D would be visually a much nicer monitor than the 950D. The tighter dot pitch means you don't have to necessarily use higher AA levels to get a nice, sharp display. The XbitLabs preview also showed that the screen has a good, balanced response time profile, as some displays have issues with different color change combos.

The assumption is that your rig can output up to 120fps in the chosen game (SkyRim) to actually see the full benefit of a 120hz screen.

And before anyone asks, yes, I had an Acer GD235HZ, and to me 120hz was less of an upgrade than a good IPS/PLS panel.

Pick up a new Dell U2711 on ebay. That would be a no-brainer option for me.
