i use one of those online chat program like ventrilo or raidcall. When some of them talk, there is echo but it doesnt repeat the words they say. It sounds really nice. Does anyone know what effect that is?

It could be a reverb effect or a sound card setting.

If im not mistaken it's a plugin that allows that feature nothing to do with the actual soundcard.

Try the control panel, sound options to see what kind of effects you can use in realtime.

I had this problem once a while back too. If i remember right, you have to go in your sound properties and make sure your mic is muted. I know it sounds backwards but if i rmember correctly, that fixed it.

It's not always a setting some people are in houses with weak acoustics so it sounds like they're talking in a bathroom since the room isn't absorbing the spare noise and is instead reflecting it back to the mic a fraction of a second later.
