I'm tired of the news section being filled with worthless crap instead of something that is actually newsworthy.
Call down wannabe-mod.

If you want something "newsworthy", go to FoxNews.com or CNN, or whatever is to your liking.

This IS newsworthy.

The new generation on consoles being displayed in a movie trailer is news.

Movies are so bad now. I just watched Thor a couple of days ago and the terribly obvious product placement is just ridiculous.

Just leave the thread.
It's a trailer for the MOVIE, not the next Xbox.

What exactly are you comparing Thor to? It wasn't bad compared to every other super hero movie.
This means nothing, the people who wrote the movie just probably figured that would be the name of the current console in the future. lol..

See post above mine...

There is absolutely no correlation between the ad in the movie and an actual console. Movies do this stuff all the time to make it seem like a more plausible future. I could create a movie set 5 years from now with an ad that says "iPad Evo" or "iPhone 7" or something, and make it look realistic. That doesn't make it news, that makes it a movie.

If there were a meter showing average IQ in this thread, it would be set on about 85. I don't want to be a mod, what I want is for people on OCN to quit being ignorant, arrogant, and stubborn. You're currently fitting all three of those descriptions.

I'm going to go make a thread about Mattel making a hoverboard because it was in Back to the Future 2. Then I'll post it in the news section...
I see your point, but either way you look at it. Publicity stunt is a stunt.
That or the producers are just stupid giving out free advertisement or throwing themselves into a potential lawsuit.

lordidonk, I haven't done this in a long time but...

Here is a link to google search results on "BRAND" placement. Just because the product doesn't exist the movie DOES advertise a a current BRAND (Xbox). MS has to pay for placement of it's brands in advertising and movies.

http://www.google.ca/search?gcx=w&so...rand+palcement

Really man, this is a thread where people just think the placement is cool.

Like someone said, get on your donkey and leave if you don't like it. Your shallow threats and cries over Mods and the TOS won't stand.

A. Read from the MANY links about BRAND placement.
B. Decide if you think Xbox is a brand.
C. Decide if you think the Xbox is a brand dedicated to a piece of HARDWARE
D. Decide if you think the Xbox, being HARDWARE, belongs in a HARDWARE news section.

That is what I was thinking...it should have been the Xbox 1440 or something if they weren't referencing an up coming product.

Seeing as how Bing is that screen shot too...my guess is that MS actually submitted this themselves and paid for the product placement...no self respecting movie would make refferences to Bing otherwise. So they might be keeping the Xbox number naming scheme. Though I honestly thought it was already official that they were.

I have to say that Xbox 720 has a nice ring to it. I can't see why they wouldn't use that name. I think it is safe to say that the next playstation will be the PS4 as well. Though Sony is trying to change their image.
