in need of a new GFX!

Thread Starter
I just recently bought a 1090T and M5A99x EVO and wanted to update my gfx card, I still have an old 8800GTS 512mb.

> around $150, best at that price!
> would play games like WoW, sc2, Dota 2, Diablo 3? at max settings. xD

Which card should I get?

THANKS!

More then likely your best bet is going to be either a 6950 as you're not going to find anything more powerful then that at your price point. It should be able to run everything on max at 1080p.

I would go with this Asus 460 1Gb. Here is a comparison of the 6850 linked above to a 460. The 460 are overclocking beasts though, I believe the 6850 are good overclockers as well but I'd imagine it would have to get pretty close to 1Ghz core to keep up with a 460 at 900Mhz or higher and I don't know if they can reliably do that. In addition I also greatly prefer the stronger tessellation performance of Nvidia, but unless I'm mistaken the AMD should use less power. It's a pretty even fight IMO, but I would go Nvidia personally. The 460 will certainly be faster than the 550ti linked above, as would the 6850, so I really would recommend against the 550ti and I don't think you can find a 6950 for anywhere near $150.

Actually I have my eyes set on those 460's but I needed second opinion since I don't know anything about hard drives, hence the reason why I'm a recent member.

460's are in my price range and looks good on specs. I'll check reviews for more inputs.

@juano btw, would a rosewill 600w enough to support that?

Normally I would have to ask about the rest of your system, speaking of which it might be a good idea to fill in your system specs to make it easier for people to help you, but yes a decent 600w would be plenty for a single 460. Now I'm not positive that your rosewill is a decent unit so you may want to ask in the PSU section, probably either looking or asking in the recommended PSU thread, tator tot will let you know.

What does not knowing anything about hard drives have to do with the GPU question here? I don't understand?
