What's up with my bus speed?

Noticed something kinda odd not too long ago, not really a big deal, but in every other CPU-Z screenshot I've seen, people get overclocks that are exactly, say, 4500 MHz and bus speed of 100 MHz. What's with mine being a few MHz less?

seadef.jpg
(temporarily disabled HT to check something unrelated, hence 4 threads)

The BIOS reports that the frequency is 4500 MHz, and the bus speed 100 MHz, but I see the above in Windows (CPU-Z, Speccy, HWMonitor, etc.) Again, not a big deal at all and isn't affecting anything, just curious.

Software is never as accurate as the BIOS is. Even if it is .2 lower, you've still got a good overclock going!

Disable Spread spectrum in the BIOS and that should help lock the bus speed to 100.

report back and let me know if that helped. thumb.gif

Now seeing this.

Weird, oh well biggrin.gif

Also noticed that my actual VCore (CPU-Z's is wrong) is 1.272V for this OC.

CPU-Z is not fully supported for all gigabyte Z68 mobo's, as you can see the vcore is reported to show the VTT voltage instead lol. Anyways did you set the bus speed to 100 aswell?

I think Gigabyte need to get their act together and start releasing some damn BIOS updates. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about a few things about gigab mobo's for th last couple weeks. Offset voltage doesn't work with LLC, idle voltage with LLC enabled is soooo much higher than 'normal'. I belive a simple BIOS update could easliy fix those issues. Sorry for the little rant tongue.gif

tongue.gif No problem...yeah every 1155 Gig board I've seen shows 1.056V for the VCore, amongst other things. So odd. kookoo.gif

Maybe a BIOS update is required.

I just updated 2 hours ago from version F2 to F9(it's the latest stable version) and noticed the Bus speed change to 99.8Mhz, it was 100.3Mhz before update.

I don't think there's "Spread spectrum" option anywhere, I've looked everywhere in bios. maybe OP will help and tell where did he find "Spread spectrum"
