My Zotac GTX 580 AMP! is Dead - Page 2

Do Zotec have a bad rep?
There was a 3GB GTX 580 on amazon for £399 I had my eye on...

Might just have to stump up the extra cash for an eVGA then.

elotk, just out of curiosity, did you remove all of the plastic coverings on the stock cooler? There is one big piece that covers the sticker, but there is also another one of the fan as well that needs to be removed. People have had some of the unremoved plastic blown into the vapor chamber and melt inside.

I would check on this.

I ran my EVGA 570 for like 2 months before realizing that there was another piece of cling film on the front of the shroud.

The film was on there so well that it didn't even look like anything was there. It could have easily been missed and been sucked into the heatsink.

I own the same card (actually, 2 of them) and wonder where the placement of that plastic covering you mentioned is on? is it like on the fan directly? I did pull away the long piece before use, but now when I check there is no other covering - it might have melt away already

There should be another thin, plastic film that goes right on top of the fan wheel. If it's not there, it may have fallen off, blown away, assuming you don't have any burnt plastic smell.

The plastic film is pretty standard these days to prevent the vinyl graphics from being scratched.

Op, I feel real bad for you mate. Contact Zotac or the store you purchased it from. From experience, Zotac's customer service has been awesome and quick. Good luck

I have the exact same cards as you, and I don't recall seeing a cover on the fan either

I know my two 570s from EVGA had a sticker on the fan...reference design like my Zotacs

EDIT: Mine looked exactly like this
